Milan/Pullach, March 15, 2013 – The international logistics service provider for environmentally friendly transport of fruit and vegetables expands its support for international Food Banks as part of its WORLDWIDE RESPONSIBILITY initiative by giving 25,000 reusable plastic containers (RPCs) to the Banco Alimentare in Italy.

The Banco Alimentare of Lombardia is a Food Bank located in in the Northern part of Italy. 560 volunteers support the non-profit organization its daily business. Necessary tasks such as collecting, packing and delivering food as well as the management of the organisation are mainly carried out by volunteers.

In 2012, the association Banco Alimentare of Lombardia has helped 1,300 charity institutions. Trough the intense relationship to charitable institutions, the Banco Alimentare provided more than 200,000 people who live in poverty with food. 13,300 tons of food, collected from retailers and growers, were given out to those in need, covering fresh fruit and vegetables as well as pre-cooked meals.
